BIGOT ALERT: Kathy Griffin - Comedian & Actor

Kathy Griffin recently made these comments recently while accepting an Emmy.

Are these comments bigoted or not? I'm inclined to believe that anyone who goes on a stage and says that the diety of any religion can "suck it" is a bigot.

BIGOT ALERT: Dr. Robert Jeffress - Pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas

The definition we use for defining a bigot - "a prejudiced person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own." Dr. Robert Jeffress fits into the category of a bigot. Here's a quote from the news story by Grommer Jeffers Jr. in the Dallas Morning News:

"Mitt Romney is a Mormon, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise," Dr. Jeffress said in a sermon on Sept. 30. "Even though he talks about Jesus as his Lord and savior, he is not a Christian. Mormonism is not Christianity. Mormonism is a cult."

Saying that Mormonism isn't Christian is one thing. It's another to go ahead and say that someone is not Christian simply because they are Mormon.

"I have conservative friends who are saying, well, he believes in Jesus, we believe in Jesus, let's just hold hands and sing kumbaya," he said. "It doesn't work that way. If a person is supporting Romney, that's fine. But don't confuse him with being a Christian."

Shame on your Dr. Jeffers for spreading hate and intolerance in our country. As a minister, your followers should expect more from you. Anyone who would flat out eliminate a candidate based on his religious beliefs is a bigot.

Why Blog About Bigotry?

The internet offers the world many wonderful things - the best of which is the ability to freely express oneself. Unfortunately, with this wonderful freedom comes a nasty dark side and that is what this blog will expose.

Bigotry can mean different things to different people. The definition for bigotry that we'll use on this site is "a prejudiced person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own." Bigotry can come in the form of racism, religious intolerance, sexual orientation intolerance, or even political intolerance. It is way too prevelant in our society today, and I hope that this blog will start a discussion on the topic and raise the level of discourse on the web.
